The following is a list of the current scholarships available to our Youngstown site students. Since this list is subject to change, you are encouraged to work with the Financial Aid Office for assistance with the application process. The deadline to apply for scholarships is February 28.

Humility of Mary Health Partners Scholarship
In addition to scholarship opportunities offered by Mercy College, Humility of Mary Health Partners also offers scholarship funds to Youngstown site students. Mary Rosanne Creedon Scholarship

Purpose:
This scholarship is funded from the income earned on a gift from the Mary Rosanne Creedon estate. Ms. Creedon was a graduate of the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Youngstown. Mercy College is the successor to that school.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Acceptance into the Associate Degree program in Nursing at Mercy College, Youngstown
  • 3.0 GPA and in good standing with the College
  • Completed Scholarship Application Form
  • Completed FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office by February 28

Number & Value of Scholarship:
  • One non-renewable scholarship awarded annually
  • $500 to be used for tuition and fees

Florence Burke Scholarship

Purpose:
This scholarship was established in memory of Florence Burke, mother of Dr. Patricia McAllen, Campus Director/Program Chair at Mercy College, Youngstown site. The recipient is someone who has a passion for the care of geriatric patients.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Current student at Mercy College, Youngstown
  • 2.7 GPA and in good standing with the College
  • Completed Scholarship Application Form with a short essay addressing the applicantÕs desire to care for geriatric patients
  • Complete FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office by February 28

Number & Value of Scholarship:
  • One non-renewable scholarship awarded annually
  • $500 awarded for tuition and fees

Magyar Family Scholarship

Purpose:
This scholarship was established in memory of Fern Magyar and honor of Frank Magyar by their family to assist first year nursing students at Mercy College of Northwest Ohio, Youngstown site, who are in financial need. Applicants must be a resident of Columbiana, Mahoning, or Trumbull Counties in Ohio to be eligible.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • An entering student accepted to the Associate Degree Nursing program at Mercy College, Youngtown site
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA and in good standing
  • Financial need
  • Resident of Columbiana, Mahoning, or Trumbull Counties in Ohio
  • Completed application for the scholarship

Number & Value of Scholarship:
  • One non-renewable scholarship awarded annually
  • $1,000 to be used for tuition and fees
