Health Care Administration

The Business of Healing

Do you want a career that marries your interest in healthcare with your leadership and management skills? Do you need convenience and flexibility in pursuing your degree? Prefer to take classes when your time allows? Then choose Mercy College’s Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Administration Completion Program. Health Care Administrators are responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and managing the direction of their chosen healthcare facility. The Health Care Administration Completion Program prepares students to enter these management practices in a healthcare setting and serves to enhance the knowledge and skills of those already employed in a management role while in the comfort and convenience of your home. Students with a degree or diploma from an accredited college or university and with a GPA of 2.3 or higher are eligible for enrollment into the HCA completion program. Once enrolled, students in this program join a community of learners, also known as a “cohort”, who complete the same HCA courses together throughout the program. A cohort is very beneficial in that it creates not only a community of learners all focused on achieving the same goal, but also helps establish a lasting network of individuals who will hopefully remain in contact long after the program has been completed, allowing for professional networking and career opportunities. With this degree completion program, there are a number of both professional as well as support courses needed to meet the general education, residency credit and graduation requirements.

On-Campus Meeting Requirement:
As a condition for graduation, all degree completion students must complete two (.5) credit hour residencies (on-campus meetings). The residency consists of an 8-hour kick-off orientation session, which will take place the 2nd Friday of August (just prior to entering the degree completion program) as well as an 8-hour summation session, which will take place the 3rd Friday of April (just prior to graduation from the degree program).
