Course Descriptions
The number that follows the title of the course is the number of CREDIT hours that the student earns upon completion of the course.
The first digit within the parentheses that follows the number of credit hours indicates the number of lecture/class HOURS per week. The second digit indicates the number of laboratory or CLINICAL hours per week.
Special Topics courses may be offered by programs to provide additional breadth and enrichment. When offered, these courses will be listed on the semester schedule under the prefix of the appropriate department, and will carry a course number of 199 – 499 depending upon course level.
Courses taken at the Youngstown Campus are the same courses identified in the course catalog, except are signified with a Y on the of the department code (for example, NUR 110 in the course descriptions would be NURY 110 at the Youngstown campus).
Kent State University – Trumbull Campus courses are not identified in the Mercy College of Northwest Ohio course catalog, but can be found in the Kent State catalog. All Kent State courses are signified with a K at the end of the department code and a K in the course number (for example, BIOK 200K BIOL STRUC & FUNCT).
Youngstown State University Campus courses are not identified in the Mercy College of Northwest Ohio course catalog, but can be found in the Youngstown State catalog. All Youngstown State courses are signified with a “Y”at the beginning of the department code (for example, YBIO 1551 ANAT & PHYS I ).
