May 5th, 2011

The Health Resources and Services Administration is now accepting student applications for the Nursing Scholarship Program for next year.

The Nursing Scholarship pays tuition, fees, other education costs and a living stipend to students in accredited RN training programs.  In exchange, upon graduation, scholars work for at least 2 years at a facility, such as a health center, rural health clinic, nursing home or hospital, that has a critical shortage of nurses.

Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 5 pm ET.  It’s expected about 500 applicants will be selected to receive the scholarship in FY 2011.  Click here to apply now

Important Messages from the Financial Aid Office:

April 27th, 2011

Please be aware all summer financial aid awarded under the 2011/2012 FAFSA cannot disburse until after July 1, 2011.  The business office is aware and will not place your account on hold.  If you are anticipating a refund check as a result of excess aid, please be aware you will not receive your check until approximately the middle of July.

The status of the Ohio College Opportunity Grant for the 2011/2012 award year is currently being re-evaluated as part of the upcoming state budget debate.  The final budget resolution is not expected before June 30, 2011.  We will keep you posted to any changes and updates regarding the status of the grant.

Please remember the FAFSA is a Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  It has come to our attention that some students have applied for aid at non-federal sites and have paid a fee.  The free website is www.fafsa.gov.  We also have the direct link on the Mercy College financial aid page for your easy access.
